Major steamship lines are anticipated to implement an April 1, 2017, General Rate Increase (GRI) for containers moving from Northern European Sea Ports to all US East Coast and Gulf Ports. The GRI is expected due to the fact that container vessels on the North Atlantic are fully booked between two and four weeks in advance, depending on the carrier, and three new ocean carrier alliances, effective April 1, will bring additional changes to capacity, schedules and services.
Rate increase as follows:
GRI for shipments to all USEC/Gulf destinations – April 1, 2017:
20′ Standard Containers: USD $1300
40′ Standard Containers: USD $1500
40′ High-Cube Containers: USD $1500
Deringer will continue to report on carriers’ surcharges and upcoming rate increases, and will work to mitigate fees whenever possible. Please send an email to Deringer’s Marketing Department with any questions.
