Deringer’s trade consultancy builds bench strength with the addition of a CBP-appointed TSN Trade Ambassador with export, airline, and legal experience.

ST. ALBANS, VT, November 6, 2020 –The Trade Advisory Group (TAG) of A.N. Deringer, Inc. (Deringer) welcomed Elizabeth Merritt as Senior Trade Advisor in late October. In her new role, Ms. Merritt will join TAG in developing trade compliance programs for clients, assisting with CTPAT certifications, preparing binding rulings and prior disclosures, and working on a variety of trade compliance projects.

Formerly, Ms. Merritt was the Managing Director of Cargo for a US trade association representing major North American airlines. In this role, she partnered with regulatory agencies, such as US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), to facilitate the secure movement of cargo. She was appointed as a Trade Ambassador by CBP (and still serves in that capacity under the Trade Support Network), served on the Commercial Customs Operations Advisory Committee (COAC) as co-chair of the export subcommittee, and as vice chair of the International Air Transport Association’s Cargo Customs Working Group.

Ania Wierzbowska-Fuller, Director of Consulting, shared, “Elizabeth’s experience rounds out TAG’s robust compliance expertise. She brings valuable trade experience to this role, especially in the realm of influencing and interpreting trade law. Her legal background, export and airline experience, as well as her tenure serving on COAC, will provide unique insight to our team and value to our clients’ supply chains.”

Ms. Merritt has also been employed by Delta Air Lines as Manager of Customs and Facilitation, the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia as a Policy Advisor, and as a briefing attorney. In 2010, she earned an individual US Customs brokerage license. She also holds a Certified Export Specialist certification from the National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of America and earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Texas in Austin.
