A Customs “entry” is defined as a procedure in which a conveyance or goods arriving into a country can be legally processed in compliance with laws and regulations of the country. In the case of cargo, a Customs “entry” procedure is required in order for the goods to be released to the importer, or for the cargo to be transferred into storage under Customs custody, or for further transportation in-bond to another destination under Customs supervision. The term entry derived from the traditional requirement to make a written line-item “entry” into a Customs manifest or control document.
