Canada, Mexico Tariffs Effective 12:01 A.M. EST, March 4, 2025
Today, March 3, 2025, U.S. President Trump reiterated, and through unpublished but public Federal Register Notices, imposed 25% tariffs on Canadian imports, with 10% duty on energy products from Canada and 25% tariff on import products from Mexico.
The above-referenced tariffs for products originating in Mexico and Canada will become effective at 12:01 am, March 4, 2025, on products that are “entered for consumption, or withdrawn from warehouse for consumption, on or after” that date and time.
U.S. President Trump has also issued an Executive Order that amends his original Order of February 5, 2025 regarding the importation of products of the People’s Republic of China. This amendment specifically strikes the words “10 percent” and replaces it with “20 percent” ad valorem tariffs. At this time, the effective date and time for the 20% duties on goods from China is unclear.
As formal policy and governing documentation and clarifications become available, A.N. Deringer, Inc. will update our customers and partners accordingly.
